Approaches to Boundaryless Information Flow Architecture

This document is a report from The Open Group Washington Conference by the Boundaryless Information Flow Reference Architecture Initiative. The principal author is Eliot Solomon, Principal of Eliot M. Solomon Consulting, Inc. This Report reviews the papers and presentations that were submitted in response to a Call for Papers. The Open Group received eight responses – from IBM, Fujitsu, Hewlett-Packard, The Open Group Directory Interoperability Forum (DIF), RSA Security, CyberRave, Red Hat, and Architecting-The-Enterprise – of which six were selected for presentation to the Washington Conference. In this Report the author looks at commonalities and differences, and begins to draw conclusions about the future of IT Architecture in general, and the Reference Architecture for Boundaryless Information Flow in particular.
